Tips for Filing a Police Misconduct Complaint
Write down everything while it's fresh: date, time, location, badge numbers, car numbers
Photograph any injuries as soon as possible
Get names and contact information for witnesses
Request medical attention if injured, and keep copies of medical records
Save any video recordings (phone, security cameras, body cam footage requests)
Note the officers' names, badge numbers, and precinct/station
File your complaint as soon as possible — some agencies have time limits
